What data we collect, why, who it is passed to, and how to take back control of it at any time.

Who is responsible for your data
The controller within the meaning of the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, SR 235.1) is Service Immobilier Genevois, which operates the Vends ton bail service. Its full details appear in the legal notice.

The data we collect
We only collect what you give us yourself. No profiling, no bought-in lists, nothing gathered behind your back.
- Registering an apartment
- Address, town, postcode, number of rooms, floor area, floor, net rent, charges, date of availability, your name, phone and email, the photos you upload, along with your contact preference and the time slot you choose.
- Applying for a listing
- Name, phone, email and the reference of the apartment you are interested in.
- Correspondence
- The content of your emails, messages and calls, and the follow-up notes relating to them.
- Technical data
- Our host's connection logs (IP address, date, page requested, browser type), kept for the security and proper running of the site.
What we do with it
- Finding someone to take over your apartment: writing the listing, presenting it to our network of candidates, arranging the viewings and being there for them.
- Checking the candidates' applications and passing the best ones to your managing agency or your owner.
- Answering you, calling you back and keeping you informed of progress.
- Paying the bonus when the conditions described in the terms of use are met, and keeping the accounts that follow from it.
- Keeping the site secure and preventing abuse.
What allows us to process it
Swiss law does not require a prior “legal basis” for each act of processing: processing is lawful as long as it does not breach personality rights. Where a justification is needed, ours is one of the three set out in art. 31 FADP:
- Your consent, for passing your application to your managing agency or your owner: that is the box you tick at the last step of the registration. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Performing the service you asked us for: without your contact details and the characteristics of the apartment, there can be no listing.
- Our overriding interest in running and securing the site, and in keeping a record of the correspondence relating to a transfer.
No decision concerning you is taken automatically: the choice of the applications presented is made by a person, and the final decision rests with the managing agency or the owner.
Who it is passed to
- Your managing agency or owner
- The application of the selected candidate, and the information needed to examine the transfer. Only with your agreement.
- Candidate successors
- The characteristics of the apartment, the town and the neighbourhood. Never your identity nor the exact address before a viewing is confirmed.
- Our two agencies
- Service Immobilier Genevois and Service Immobilier Vaudois, of which Vends ton bail is the lease-transfer service, depending on the canton the apartment is in.
- Our service providers
- Hosting of the site and professional email, bound by a duty of confidentiality and acting on our instructions alone.
We do not sell your data, we do not rent it out, and we do not pass it to anyone for advertising purposes.
Transfers abroad
The pages of this site load their typefaces from Google Fonts. In doing so, your IP address is transmitted to Google LLC, in the United States. It is the only transfer of this kind on the site, and it happens even if you fill in no form at all.
The United States appears on the list of states offering adequate protection for companies certified under the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The other processing described here takes place in Switzerland or in the European Economic Area.

How long we keep it

- 24 months after the lease is taken over or the search is closed.
- Unsuccessful application
- 12 months.
- Photos of the apartment
- Removed from the listing as soon as the apartment is allocated, deleted no later than 12 months afterwards.
- Email correspondence
- 24 months.
- Accounting records
- 10 years, where a bonus has been paid (art. 958f CO).
- Server logs
- According to our host's policy.
After these periods the data is deleted or anonymised. You can ask for it to be deleted sooner, except where a legal obligation requires us to keep it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the files is limited to the members of the team who need it to handle your request. No system is infallible: if a security breach posed a high risk to your rights, we would inform the FDPIC and you, in accordance with art. 24 FADP and following.
Your rights
The FADP gives you, over the data concerning you:
- the right to obtain a copy of it and to know what we do with it (art. 25 FADP);
- the right to have it corrected if it is inaccurate (art. 32 FADP);
- the right to ask for it to be deleted, or to object to a processing operation (art. 30 and 32 FADP);
- the right to receive it in a common format or to have it passed to a third party (art. 28 FADP);
- the right to withdraw at any time a consent you have given.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you can refer the matter to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or to the competent civil court.
Changes
We may change this text if the service changes. The version date appears at the top of the page. In the event of a significant change in how we use your data, we will tell the people concerned before it takes effect.
